IT News on October 3rd: Mercedes-Benz will significantly streamline its model lineup, with electric vehicles being the focus of these adjustments. At least three models will be discontinued in 2027.
A Mercedes-Benz spokesperson confirmed to foreign media Car and Driver that the EQE sedan and its AMG version, as well as the AMG S 63, E PERFORMANCE, and the Maybach EQS 680 SUV will all be phased out of the product lineup next year. Mercedes-Benz is also continuing to bring its electric models closer in alignment with their corresponding fuel-powered vehicle series, with the 2027 model year becoming a key milestone for this adjustment.
Mercedes-Benz EQE sedans will cease production in 2027, marking the end of a relatively short product cycle, and AMG EQE sedans will also be phased out at that time.
EQE was initially launched as a pure electric alternative model of the E-Class, featuring an independent streamlined aerodynamic design that clearly distinguished it from the fuel-powered E-Class. With the introduction of the pure electric CLA, and the upcoming launch of the pure electric C-Class, the necessity to continue maintaining it as a separate vehicle series EQE has diminished.

AMG S The S63, which is equipped with a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine and hybrid technology, boasts a maximum power of 791 horsepower and a peak torque of 1430N·m. After production stops, there will be a temporary gap at the top of the S-class high-performance model lineup. Fortunately, this situation is not likely to last too long. E PERFORMANCE The production of the S63 will also come to an end in 2027.
S 63 still has the potential to return in the future after switching to other power systems. While Mercedes-Benz is expanding its range of all-electric models, it continues to develop AMG internal combustion engines. The company has also made it clear that V8 high-performance models will not disappear in the short term.

According to IT, Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced the successor model to the S 63.
The Maybach EQS 680 SUV will also be discontinued in 2027. The Maybach EQS was once Mercedes-Benz's most expensive and luxurious all-electric vehicle, featuring a pure electric power system combined with exclusive Maybach design, a high-end interior, and premium materials. In the future, Mercedes-Benz is still expected to launch new all-electric Maybach models, but they are not expected to appear as a separate EQ series.
