One of the earliest investors, Anthropic, stated that the secret to the company's success lies in the unique presence brought by its curly-haired CEO Dario Amodei ( Dario Amodei ).
Matt Murphy ( Matt Murphy ), who goes by Menlo Ventures, said that Amodei may not possess the same kind of energy as a "top salesperson" from Silicon Valley or as Sam Altman ( Sam Altman ), the CEO of OpenAI, but Amodei's "intellectual temperament" fits very well with the AI researchers.
Murphy stated that the reason Anthropic has performed so well is due to Amodei's "investment in corporate culture," as well as his ability to attract researchers who wish to work for him to join the company.
Murphy said to Ben Bergman ( Ben Bergman ), who is Business Insider, "He belongs to the same category as them, and in fact, he is one of the best among them."
Amodei was once an early researcher at OpenAI. In 2020, due to concerns about security issues, he left and co-founded Anthropic. Since then, Anthropic has become the largest AI startup in terms of valuation, and it may go public with a valuation of $2 trillion in the future.
Menlo Ventures invested in Anthropic as early as 2023, when the company was valued at $4.1 billion. Since then, this institution has participated in every subsequent round of financing.

Murphy said that Amodei would win people's hearts through some impromptu gestures, such as suddenly appearing at a meeting in Zoom. Murphy mentioned that such a situation occurred during a teleconference with investors of Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown ( Tom Brown ).
He said, "And then, suddenly, Dario appeared. Everyone let out a 'Oh' at that moment – the whole atmosphere soared instantly."
Murphy also said, "There was a certain charm about him, perhaps a charm that came from his youthful appearance, especially at that time. He was a very curious person, and incredibly intelligent as well."
Overall, despite the high valuation of Anthropic, its financial losses, the threat from China's open-source models, and external concerns regarding the security of AI, Murphy still remains optimistic about Anthropic.
When talking about the stocks of Anthropic, he said, "If I could buy more, I would."
