IT News on October 2nd: Porsche's Luo Mingkai ( Michael Leiters ) believes that it is inaccurate for the outside world to interpret the company's renewed focus on fuel-powered vehicles as a abandonment of electrification. Porsche will continue to develop electric vehicles and will not give up on fuel-powered cars either.
On September 30th local time, Luo Mingkai reiterated this approach in his latest interview. He confirmed that the fuel-powered version of Macan will be launched in 2028, and also emphasized that Porsche's electrification plans will not cease. The only model that will not participate in the parallel strategy of both fuel and pure electric options remains the 911.

Regarding the claim from the outside world that he is a skeptic about electric vehicles, Luo Mingkai said bluntly in an interview with the British "Financial Times": "I think it's unfair."
Luo Mingkai's strategy is not to retreat from electrification, but to restore the product lineup of fuel-powered vehicles, allowing both fuel and pure electric vehicles to coexist, rather than ultimately retaining only one of them.
Porsche will reintroduce the fuel-powered version of Macan in 2028. Luo Mingkai hopes that both gasoline and electric versions will be sold simultaneously, but he also does not want to reinvest resources in the same niche market and compete for the same group of consumers.
IT learned from reports that this concern about repeated investment runs through Luo Mingkai's entire strategy. "We must be cautious to ensure that the company does not make repeated investments in both gasoline cars and electric cars in the same niche market at the same time." In his view, Porsche's previous problem was that it invested too much in electrification before market demand was mature.
Luo Mingkai also believes that fuel-powered vehicles are still attractive to consumers of high-end models. "We must resume our strategy for fuel vehicles, but I am very confident that once the fuel version of Macan is launched, we will be able to offer customers a very balanced choice between pure electric and fuel-powered options."
Luo Mingkai stated that the real problem lies in market imbalance, not in electricization technology itself. "As long as the competitive environment is fair, we have nothing to fear from any competition."
While reintroducing fuel-powered options, Porsche is still developing the all-electric 718. Luo Mingkai views these two models as two separate product decisions: one niche market can transition to all-electric, while the other can continue to retain fuel power, ultimately depending on the actual needs of consumers. The 911, however, is an exception. Luo Mingkai reiterated once again that Porsche will not launch an all-electric 911.
