News from the IT family on October 2nd: Rivian has announced an update to the in-vehicle infotainment system for its R2 model for October. The version number is expected to be 2026.35, with the main new features being a Pet Cam pet camera and an electric tailgate opening height adjustment function.

Among them, Pet Cam mainly serves Pet Comfort Mode (Pet Comfort Mode). When the car owner activates this mode and leaves the vehicle, they can use Rivian on their mobile phone App and the lock screen to view the interior of the car in real-time, quickly confirming the pet's status inside the car.

Foreign media autoevolution pointed out that Rivian's Pet Comfort Mode (Pet Comfort Mode) is similar to Tesla's Pet Mode, as it can maintain the temperature inside the vehicle within a range set by the user and display information related to the Pet Mode on the central control screen, allowing people outside the car to confirm that the pet inside is in a normal state.
In addition, this month's update will also support setting the maximum opening height of the electric tailgate. For overseas users who often park their vehicles in spaces with limited space such as low-level garages, it will be possible to limit the tailgate opening height to prevent collisions between the tailgate and the top of the garage.
Rivian also revealed that in early 2027, they will launch Teen Mode (Youth Mode) and Valet Mode (Valet Parking Mode) for their vehicle models, to allow car owners to set usage restrictions for other drivers, ensuring safety and privacy.
