Tesla is about to face several key milestones within a week, including the release of the long-delayed new generation of Roadster on October 1st, as well as the third-quarter delivery figures expected to be announced around October 2nd. JPMorgan Chase has lowered its expectations for Tesla's third-quarter deliveries and earnings per share, and has reduced its target price from $445 to $415.

Tesla's stock price is entering one of the most important weeks of this quarter. Investors are preparing to welcome the long-awaited Roadster debut, as well as new vehicle delivery data. On Monday's pre-market trading, Tesla's stock price came under pressure after JPMorgan Chase lowered its expectations for the electric vehicle manufacturer's third-quarter deliveries.

It lowered Tesla's third-quarter delivery forecast from 516,000 units to 482,000 units, due to weaker delivery performance in China and the United States than expected. JPMorgan Chase also reduced Tesla's target price from $445 to $415, and lowered the earnings per share forecast for the third quarter from $0.49 to $0.36.

Tesla closed at $372.11 last Friday, marking a cumulative decline of about 14% for the stock this year.

The delivery volume in the third quarter may drive stock price fluctuations.

Vehicle delivery data will now become the most important short-term test. Tesla is expected to announce its third-quarter delivery figures around October 2nd, but Wall Street's expectations range widely.

UBS expects Tesla to deliver around 470,000 vehicles, and estimates that investors' current expectations fall roughly between 460,000 and 480,000 vehicles. Therefore, although JPMorgan Chase has significantly lowered its estimate to 482,000 vehicles, this figure is still relatively strong.

Tesla delivered 480,126 cars in the second quarter, achieving the company's best second-quarter performance ever, with a growth of about 25% compared to the same period last year.

This delivery report may be particularly important, as Tesla's stock price has declined after each of the past four quarterly delivery announcements, despite some of the results exceeding expectations.

Roadster Debut Brings Another Catalyst

Before the release of the delivery data, investors will also be watching another important Tesla event. Tesla plans to unveil its long-delayed next-generation Roadster on October 1st, which is nearly nine years since the initial debut of that model.

The company recently previewed this event with the theme “Go for launch.” Other reports suggest that Tesla might release a limited-edition Roadster equipped with air-cooled thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX, although the final specifications are still unclear.

Meanwhile, Tesla's next financial report is scheduled to be released on October 20th. This means that Tesla investors will see three major catalysts in a short period of time: the Roadster debut, third-quarter deliveries, and the quarterly financial report. All of these factors could make October a decisive month for the TSLA stock price.
