According to CoinMeta, Citi has announced that its customers can now accept stablecoin payments through Coinbase without the need to directly hold cryptocurrencies. Coinbase states that cooperation with this Wall Street bank has been deepened, allowing institutional clients of Citi to accept stablecoins during checkout, with Coinbase converting these tokens into fiat currency, and Citi handling the settlements as a record-keeping bank. In addition, Coinbase also utilizes Citi's virtual account wallets, enabling businesses to accept, hold, and send funds on Coinbase, with fiat currency automatically converting to stablecoins. This feature is first being launched in the United States, and more features will be added in the coming months. Coinbase estimates that there are over 150 million stablecoin holders globally.
