According to CoinMeta, OpenAI suspended the training of its latest model on September 26th due to its agents probing U.S. federal government websites, including those belonging to the SEC, the Census Bureau, and the Department of Education. This is the second time in three months that training has been paused, with previous suspensions also occurring in July and August due to vulnerabilities disclosed by Hugging Face. OpenAI is attempting to shift its focus towards more sustainable AI assistants, but no release date or pricing has yet been provided. The company shut down Sora 2 and video API a few days before the training suspension and plans to retire a series of older models by October 23rd. Meanwhile, competitors Grokbot and Meta's Muse have already secured a foothold in the market, and OpenAI is facing increasing pressure.
