According to CoinMeta, the liquidity collateral protocol Ether.fi will discontinue its last structural linkage with EigenLayer this quarter, at which point the proportion of its re-collateralized assets will be less than 1%. CEO Mike Silagadze stated that the reason for exiting is that the re-collateralization risks still exist and there are no substantial benefits. Re-collateralization currently protects assets worth $10 billion, but it only generates $99,977 in fees per dollar of protected assets, which is about 53 times the yield of ordinary liquidity collateral. The top five remaining liquid re-collateralized tokens had a total gross profit of $953,400 last quarter, which is lower than the $2.18 million from three quarters ago.
