Despite the ongoing market hype, my current preference for Ethereum's native token (ethereum:native) over Bitcoin ($BTC) is as follows:
1/ Bitcoin rose 0.55% to $63,220.03, but this increase was primarily driven by a 34.4% surge in perpetual futures open interest to $372.31 billion. The average funding rate doubled to +0.0075%. This indicates that the market is mainly driven by aggressive leveraged long positions rather than natural spot buying. Therefore, this rally will be very fragile and could trigger a sudden wave of liquidations should market sentiment shift.
2/ On August 2nd, the spot Bitcoin ETF recorded an outflow of $265 million, while the market sentiment index was 35, in the fear zone. Institutional capital is withdrawing, while derivatives traders are pouring in. This divergence between leveraged speculation and institutional withdrawal has historically been a harbinger of significant corrections, raising serious questions about the sustainability of current price levels.
3/ Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin, rising 1.07% to $1,871.70. The main driver was the easing of geopolitical tensions following President Trump's cancellation of plans to launch a military strike against Iran. This rise reflects a shift in risk appetite across cryptocurrencies and traditional markets, rather than a rise in a single coin.
4/ In July, the US spot Ethereum ETF saw net inflows of $365.17 million, the highest since 2026. Average funding rates rose 32.48% to +0.0062929%. Increased institutional demand and derivatives holdings give Ethereum a more diversified foundation than Bitcoin.
5/ Bitcoin faces resistance in the $64,500 to $65,000 range, with support at $62,000. A break below this support level could see a drop to $60,000. The US jobs report released on August 7th is a key catalyst in the near term. Weak data could support price increases, while strong data could put downward pressure on risk assets.
6/ Ethereum is testing support between $1850 and $1870. If this support holds, it could test the resistance zone of $1880 to $1910, which coincides with the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level near $1875.40. A break below this resistance level would target $1. 750. The US inflation report released on August 12th will likely determine the next move.
7/ The total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies has only increased by 0.70%.

Recently, I've seen many people considering MSTR as the top choice for bottom-fishing in this cryptocurrency market.
The reason is simple:
MSTR currently appears to have fallen to near its intrinsic value, with some even believing it's a "discounted purchase of BTC."
However, after some research, I believe many are still applying the logic of the last bull market to MSTR.
This is the biggest misconception.
Why did the market give MSTR such a high premium in the last bull run?
Many thought it was because it bought a lot of BTC.
But that's not the case.
What's truly valuable is the capital flywheel behind it.
BTC rises → stock price rises → additional issuance and financing → continued purchase of BTC → further increase in the value of each BTC share → the market continues to give it a higher valuation.
People weren't buying a cryptocurrency company, but a capital machine that could continuously amplify BTC returns.
Therefore, MSTR's premium at the time was essentially pricing in its financing capabilities.
But today, this logic has changed.
As financing costs rise and capital structures become more complex, Strategy is no longer the company that "only buys BTC."
It has begun building cash reserves and considering when to buy, when to sell, and how to manage debt and preferred stock.
In other words, it's increasingly resembling a fund company actively managing its BTC positions.
The question arises:
If MSTR's ultimate profits increasingly rely on management's capital operations rather than simply holding BTC, why should the market continue to give it the high premium it once did?
This is something I haven't understood.
Many say that once the bull market returns, the MSTR discount will definitely be corrected.
I agree with that.
However, a correction in the discount doesn't mean it will return to the previous two or three times, or even higher, premium.
Because there were no spot ETFs or such mature BTC investment channels in the last round, MSTR was almost the best tool for US stock investors to obtain high-beta BTC.
Today, this scarcity has decreased.
Therefore, I don't see MSTR as a "cheap version of BTC."
It's more like:
a financial product packaged together:
BTC price + fundraising ability + management operations + capital structure + market sentiment.
Being right about BTC's direction doesn't guarantee MSTR will outperform.
Therefore, if I were to re-rank this round of Crypto Beta, my order would lean more towards:
BTC > ETH > COIN > SOL > MSTR
BTC profits from the asset's intrinsic value appreciation.
ETH profits from the resurgence of on-chain finance.
COIN profits from the recovery of trading volume across the entire Crypto industry.
SOL profits from market risk appetite.
MSTR, besides betting on BTC, also involves betting on management, the fundraising environment, and whether the market is willing to revalue it significantly.
The more variables, the higher the potential for growth.
But more variables also mean more opportunities to make mistakes.
When buying the dip in a bear market, I prefer to buy certainty first, then potential for growth.
Because what truly determines returns is not who rises the fastest, but who can weather the entire cycle.

Bitcoin is testing one of the most important price levels in each cycle.
Historically, Bitcoin's mining costs have played a crucial supporting role during bear markets.
2015 → Bitcoin consolidated near this level before the next bull run.
2019 → The same thing happened.
2020 → Again.
2022 → Bitcoin bottomed out near this level and subsequently experienced a significant surge.
Now, in 2026, Bitcoin is once again testing its mining costs.
The current range is roughly between $62,000 and $75,000, with Bitcoin trading near the bottom of this range.
In the past, each cycle has ultimately turned this area into a springboard for the next bull run.
If Bitcoin can hold this area again, historical experience suggests it could become one of the most important accumulation zones in the entire cycle.
Everyone is focused on the price decline.
However, the cost base for miners is showing a different trend.

I've already placed my BTC long positions, but I'll wait until tonight to see how things develop. Don't place any pending orders yet. I'll wait for a pullback and a bottoming signal before entering the market. My current plan is to go long on BTC around 6.25-6.20, and on ETH around 1830 or 1800. I'll maintain this strategy for now, as these are mostly near strong support levels. Let's see if they provide an opportunity!

From the liquidation chart, the price action area for ETH is around 1820, which is also near the support level. Although the price retraced briefly, it rebounded, so the support below remains effective. The next plan is to go long around 1830!

ETH remains in a wedge pattern. The price has pulled back slightly in the short term, but it's still near support. If the price is strong, it might rebound to test the 1935-1950 resistance level. If it's weak, it might go directly down. My original plan was to go long and then short, but it's too late to go long, so I'm currently holding no positions and waiting for an opportunity.

BTC has been trading within a channel in the short term. The price retraced to the support level and held, indicating that the lower support line is quite strong. I originally planned to look for an opportunity to go long near the support level, but it was too late, so I didn't enter the market. I'm currently holding no positions and waiting for an opportunity to trade.

Bitcoin enjoyed ample liquidity at the start of August.
Most downside liquidity has been snapped up, but another major liquidity concentration point is around $61,000 to $62,000.
With Bitcoin currently trading near $63,000, we are closer to this downside liquidity concentration point, meaning that price level is likely to be the first to be exhausted.
However, significant liquidity has also accumulated above $65,500 to $67,000, which we need to monitor closely.
Both sides are poised for action.
High market volatility is expected!

Is the following summary of the current state of the Japanese yen accurate?
1/ After the bursting of Japan's asset bubble in the 1990s and 2000s, a massive amount of public debt accumulated.
2/ To combat deflation and ensure debt repayment, the Bank of Japan kept interest rates near zero for decades.
3/ Yen could be borrowed globally at virtually zero cost and leveraged for carry trades (i.e., yen carry trades).
4/ This low-cost leverage flowed into higher-yielding assets, including US stocks and bonds.
5/ Today, the Bank of Japan is raising interest rates to normalize policy amid inflation and a weak yen.
6/ Rising Japanese interest rates coupled with a stronger yen forced carry trades to be unwound.
7/ This created selling pressure, putting the US stock market at risk.
8/ The Japanese government intervened to support the yen.
9/ This wasn't enough, so the US Treasury also joined in, buying yen.

Market Update: Bitcoin ($BTC) is currently seeking support around $63,000 after a strong rebound near $65,000.
Most major altcoins continued their decline ahead of the weekend. However, smaller tokens like BEAT and MemeCore bucked the trend, achieving double-digit gains.
