Modern IONIQ October sales rebounded on the 5th
Although Tesla Model Y and Model still dominate the US electric vehicle market, accounting for about 50% of total sales as of the third quarter, Hyundai IONIQ ranks third.
Since the cancellation of the $7,500 federal tax credit last September, the market has slowed down, and several automakers have reported that electric vehicle sales are below 2025 levels, as buyers rushed to purchase cars before the subsidy was eliminated.
Modern subsequently reduced the price of the 2026 IONIQ model with 5 different configurations by up to nearly $10,000, with the starting price of the new car being around $35,000.
As signs of market recovery emerged, IONIQ saw a rebound in sales in October, with an increase of 21% to 1,981 units.
In the first 10 months of 2026, Hyundai sold a total of 33,093 units of the IONIQ in the United States, which is still 23% lower than the 42,700+ units sold during the same period last year. Federal tax credits were still available during the same period last year.

Modern indicates that IONIQ has contributed to the growth, with the company achieving its best single-month sales in history in October in the United States, selling 73,452 cars, a year-on-year increase of 5%.
Although only 169 units of the IONIQ 9 were sold last month, which is a 47% decrease compared to the same period last year, the sales volume for this model as of October still increased by 49% year-on-year, approaching 6,700 units.

Modern hybrid vehicles set a new sales record for October, with a 20% increase compared to last year, accounting for 29% of the total sales in October. As of October, Hyundai's total sales in the United States increased by 3% year-on-year, reaching 770,916 units.
Since not all car companies release their monthly sales data, it is difficult to determine the market rankings of IONIQ up to October.
Earlier on, Kia, a brand under Hyundai, announced that its three-row electric SUV EV9 vehicle saw a 11% year-on-year increase in sales in October. As of October, the annual sales of EV9 have also increased by 5% year-on-year, reaching 13,835 units.
The cheapest 2027 Hyundai IONIQ model with a SE Standard Range starts at $35,250 and has a maximum range of up to 245 miles.
If you want longer battery life, upgrading to the long-range version SE RWD will cost an additional $2,500, but it offers a range of up to 318 miles per charge.
