IT News on October 25th: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy ( Andy Jassy ) stated on Friday local time that driven by the ongoing high demand for AI infrastructure, Amazon Web Services' ( AWS ) cloud computing capacity will be essentially sold out by 2027, with a large number of long-term computing power orders locked in until 2028.

This episode of the video podcast is hosted by Ben Horowitz, co-founder of the Anderson Horowitz Fund ( Andreessen Horowitz ), and Eric Torenberg, general partner of the same fund ( Erik Torenberg ). Jassy mentioned in the program that there is a continuous demand for computing power from AI laboratories and corporate clients, and Amazon has been doing its best to meet this demand.
Earlier this year, Amazon announced that its capital expenditure plan for 2026 is approximately $220 billion (Note from IT: at the current exchange rate, this is about 1.47 trillion yuan).
Jia Xi mentioned that since the cloud computing capacity for 2026 has already been fully booked, the company “could actually increase its investment further; continuing to increase investment is not an inefficient way of using funds.”
He said, "The computing power capacity for 2027 is basically sold out. We will reserve a portion of the resources for on-demand calls and inference services Bedrock and EC2, but most of the large blocks of computing power resources suitable for bulk purchases have already been booked. A considerable amount of capacity for 2028 has also been locked in advance."
EC2 is the cloud server service of AWS, used to host various applications; Bedrock is provided for customers to call the AI model in order to build generative AI applications.
Amazon is scheduled to release its third-quarter financial report on October 29th local time.
