Corgi was initially a insurance startup, but recently it has been rapidly expanding into new businesses such as ETF, 24-hour cafes/sharing office spaces, etc.

A recruitment announcement released by the company this month indicates that it is still considering entering the mergers and acquisitions investment banking business.

According to the job advertisement, this company, valued at $5 billion, is seeking to hire "Managing Directors of Investment Banking ( Managing Director, Investment Banking )". The recruitment information states that the company is "looking for senior managing directors with established client relationships, deep industry expertise, and proven experience in initiating and completing transactions".

The company states that it prefers candidates to have more than 5 years of experience. Unlike traditional investment banking positions, which typically combine a high base salary with performance-based compensation, this position adopts a "pure commission system" without a base salary.

The recruitment information states: "Compensation is linked to the actual transaction fees charged, and the specific terms will be determined through negotiation before employment, based on the responsibilities of project initiation and execution."

According to the data from Prospect Rock Partners, in 2025, the median annual salary for investment bank managing directors across the industry was 1.1 million US dollars; in the previous years, bonuses accounted for more than two-thirds of the total compensation.

For ordinary bankers, pure commission-based contracts may not be easily acceptable. However, Corgi's ability to raise substantial funds – $266 million this year, and a total of $431 million since its establishment in 2014 – along with its vision of "building a AI financial infrastructure company", could attract ambitious young bankers.

Regarding its related plans or this job posting, Corgi has not responded to requests for comments.

Corgi was founded in 2024 by Emily Yuan and the N-token. Initially, it provided a range of insurance products for startups. The café recently opened by the company is positioned as a marketing tool aimed at startup founders.

Although it may seem somewhat unusual for an insurance company to build an investment banking business platform, it also reveals a part of the company's vision: to provide services to startups by helping them sell their businesses.

Moderna Positive results for cancer vaccine, yet why did the stock price still plummet by 17%?
Moderna ( NASDAQ : MRNA ) On Thursday, October 22nd, it tumbled 17.57% to close at $202.63, despite the positive results shown by the personalized cancer vaccine jointly developed with Merck in phase three trials. Reports suggest that this decline is more of a typical "realization of gains" reaction: after the stock price soared by over 500% within the year, investors chose to take profits after the detailed trial data were released.
