According to Bloomberg, the wealth of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt ( Eric Schmidt ) may grow even further.
Bloomberg reported that Schmidt participated in the Series A financing of the leading artificial intelligence lab Anthropic in 2021, investing tens of millions of dollars, and currently holds approximately 1% of the company's shares. Data from PitchBook shows that the valuation of Anthropic at that time was 461 million US dollars.
If Bloomberg's estimates are accurate, then compared to the approximately 2% stake held by Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dalio Amodei (Dario Amodei), Schmidt's stake is quite substantial. There is a general expectation in the outside world that Anthropic will go public before the end of this year, with the market's highest valuation for it reaching $2 trillion. Based on this valuation, Schmidt's net assets could increase by up to $20 billion. Bloomberg's current estimate for its net assets is $57.5 billion.
Since stepping down as Google's CEO in 2011, Schmidt has been active in the field of tech investment. He has deployed capital through several entities, including Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, as well as his family office Hillspire. In addition to Anthropic, his other investments in artificial intelligence also include Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI.
Neither Schmidt nor Anthropic immediately responded to requests for comments.
