Spotify indicates that, with the upgrade to iPhone version 27, users can now more conveniently use Spotify through Siri.
On Tuesday, it was announced that when users allow Siri to play music or other content through this streaming service application, they no longer need to specifically say “on Spotify”.
On the contrary, users only need to state what they want to listen to, and Spotify will play the corresponding content. Whether it's a specific track, album, podcast, audiobook, or a more general request, such as "play exercise music," or asking to use a certain feature of Spotify, for example, "play my DJ."
The voice control of Siri can also be used to request personalized recommendations, resume podcast playback, search the database, and even create Prompted Playlist through AI.
Spotify indicates that by canceling this additional voice command, the hands-free listening experience will be more natural. Users can focus on what they want to listen to, rather than on how to phrase their requests precisely in order to get their preferred music app to respond.
Spotify says that this feature is possible because Siri can now learn about users' preferences for music apps. If users continue to use Spotify, Siri will automatically direct audio requests to that app.
This new feature is available to users worldwide, but it is limited to devices with the model numbers iPhone 15 Pro or later, and those located outside of the European Union. Additionally, it must be enabled in the settings.
