IT News on October 12th: According to Leifeng Network·Jingxi News, Skyworth is developing an exoskeleton product aimed at assisting the elderly in their mobility.
IT Note: Exoskeletons (wearable exoskeleton robot systems) are a type of mechatronic equipment worn on the outside of the human body that enables a deep integration of human intelligence with mechanical physical strength. They function to enhance strength, provide body support, or reconstruct motor functions through structural mechanics, sensors, and power drives.
It is reported that the exoskeleton team was incubated within Skyworth Group and is affiliated with the Innovation Research Institute of Shenzhen Skyworth Digital Technology Co., Ltd., however, this product will not use the Skyworth brand.
The project is still in the testing phase and has not yet been officially mass-produced and released. Multiple iterations have taken place internally. People familiar with the matter revealed that Skyworth had plans to develop exoskeletons a year ago.
In terms of product positioning, this exoskeleton is aimed at the silver-haired population, helping to alleviate the burden on their lower limbs when walking, standing up, and going up and down stairs, rather than being designed for outdoor mountain climbing, industrial lifting, or similar scenarios.

It is worth noting that Huang Hongsheng, the founder of Skyworth Group, stated at the Skyworth Group Customer Conference and New Product Launch in March 2026 that the company is not currently involved in humanoid robots. He believed that expecting humanoid robots to accompany the elderly for walks or help with carrying objects was rather unrealistic, and the company approached this with caution. The development of this exoskeleton product, which was incubated internally within the group and does not use the Skyworth brand, may be related to this cautious attitude.
In the field of exoskeleton-assisted walking, domestic consumer-grade products have already been launched. On May 1, 2025, Zhiyuan Research Institute released the first domestic consumer-grade exoskeleton, "Tashan AsExo-TK1000," which integrates AI gait prediction and torque adaptive technology in Hangzhou. The official recommended price is 9,800 yuan, and the price for the first 100 pre-orders is 8,800 yuan. This product claims to have a gait prediction accuracy of up to 99.2% and uses a "growth-type" algorithm for continuous learning, making it suitable for scenarios such as walking assistance for elderly people with muscle strength degradation.
From the current application status, exoskeleton robots have been deployed in scenic areas such as Huangshan in Anhui, Mount Tai in Shandong, and Huashan in Shaanxi to assist tourists in climbing mountains; in the field of elderly care, some communities have also begun pilot projects to help disabled elderly people walk independently. In addition to assisting the elderly, this technology has also penetrated into industrial, military, emergency rescue, and other scenarios.
At the industry level, according to institutional forecasts, the period from 2025 to 2028 will be a phase of rapid growth for the exoskeleton robot industry, with an estimated annual compound growth rate of 47.7% over these three years. By 2028, the global market size is expected to reach $5.8 billion; in China, the market size for exoskeleton robots is projected to reach 4.2 billion yuan by 2025, with an average annual compound growth rate of about 50% from 2023 to 2028.
