IT News on October 12th: According to The Wall Street Journal, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Amazon is in negotiations to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart. The potential value of this deal is estimated to be around $7 billion (Note from IT Home: The current exchange rate is approximately 46.948 billion RMB).
Headquartered in San Francisco, Decart focuses on developing cross-chip adaptation software that can help developers switch seamlessly between different AI chips. As major tech giants compete for computing power resources, this underlying software capability is becoming increasingly crucial.
Insiders point out that if the negotiations progress smoothly and no new bidders emerge, the deal could be concluded soon.
Data from research institution PitchBook shows that Decart has previously raised over $400 million (approximately 2.683 billion yuan at current exchange rates) from well-known venture capital firms such as Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures. In a round of financing in May this year, its valuation approached $4 billion (approximately 26.827 billion yuan at current exchange rates).
IT Home noticed that, according to a report by Bloomberg in August, Anthropic had negotiated the acquisition of Decart, with a transaction amount of approximately $6 billion (equivalent to about 40.241 billion yuan at current exchange rates). In September this year, it was reported that Anthropic had abandoned the acquisition of Decart.
