Netflix has released the first official trailer for the upcoming limited series "Altruists" ( The Altruists ), which tells the dramatic rise and fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

Netflix Revisiting the FTX Collapse Incident
“Altruists” will focus on the relationship between Bankman-Fried and Ellison, telling how the two jointly built an encryption empire worth billions of dollars, as well as how FTX collapsed in November 2022.
Netflix describes these two individuals as "ambitious young idealists" who initially sought to reshape the global financial system, but ultimately became involved in a fraud case reportedly involving $8 billion. The trailer also provides a clearer glimpse of how the show will depict their relationship, the rapid expansion of FTX, and the various events that led to the exchange's downfall.
The inspiration for this drama comes from the "New York" magazine and reports by Vox Media. It is led by co-creators Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt. Moore has previously written the script for "The Imitation Game," and the first episode is directed by James Ponsoldt.
Higher Ground Productions, founded by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, also participated in this project. The form of their collaboration was part of a continuous creative partnership they have with Netflix.
In addition to Garner and Boyle, the cast also includes Paul Reiser who plays Joe Bankman, Robin Weigert who plays Barbara Fried, as well as Maddie Hasson and Marianna Phung.

The FTX incident in the real world later became one of the most representative scandals in the crypto industry. After the exchange collapsed, customers faced losses of billions of dollars, and Bankman-Fried was ultimately convicted of fraud and conspiracy.
“The Altruist” has also joined the list of films and television works that focus on high-profile cases of financial and technological failures. The entire series, consisting of eight episodes, is scheduled to be released on Netflix on November 19th.
