On October 9th, according to a report from IT, former Apple CEO Tim Cook ( Tim Cook ) stated in an interview with The Independent journalist David Frantz ( David Phelan ) this Wednesday that he stepped down on September 1st ( CEO ). Part of the reason was to create a favorable starting point for his successor, John Ternus ( John Ternus ), 8 days before the release of iPhone Duo.
Cook stated that this handover "was initiated several years ago." He said that Apple hopes to create a "textbook example" of handover that can be used as a reference for future generations, and claimed that the entire process largely met their expectations.
The content of the interview conducted by Cook, as recorded in the IT Translation Library, is as follows:
This is an interesting transformation. From the very beginning, we were determined to create the best transformation in history, a textbook example that future generations could learn from. In fact, this work started several years ago. Obviously, these things didn’t happen overnight, but I am very satisfied with the progress we have made so far. I think everything is almost exactly going according to my plans. That feeling is incredible. Because Apple deserves the best.
Tenuis previously served as the head of Apple's hardware engineering department and took over from Cook on September 1st to become CEO. Cook stated that he is satisfied with the progress of the handover and believes that Apple deserves to have the best leaders.

Cook also revealed that he gave Tenuis similar advice to that which Jobs gave him back in the day: not to imitate one's predecessors. He stated that leaders should invest their time in areas where they can create the most value and carry out their work based on their own strengths.
