New York, October 8th ( PRNewswire ) – According to a Wall Street Investor news commentary, Gartner predicts that global spending on artificial intelligence will reach $2.59 trillion in 2026, a 47% increase from $1.76 trillion in 2025, and will rise to $3.49 trillion in 2027.
Among them, infrastructure will account for the largest share this year, reaching $1.43 trillion, which is more than 45% of all AI expenditures. Gartner Distinguished Vice President Analyst John - David Lovelock stated: "2026 will be a turning point year."
Active companies with the latest developments this week in the market include:
- Microsoft Corporation ( NASDAQ : MSFT )
- Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ : META)
- Broadcom Corporation ( NASDAQ : AVGO )
- Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ : AMD)
This prediction has also been reflected in the market. Last week, tech stocks led the gains again, with the Nasdaq Composite Index rising by about 17% so far this year. Investors continue to reward those companies that sell and purchase the hardware behind AI.
There are two types of companies that drive spending: one is large cloud and internet platforms, which are building data centers to train and run AI models; the other is chip companies, which provide processors, custom accelerators, and networking equipment for these data centers.
Data from the latest financial reporting season indicates that such expenditures have become highly concentrated. The largest platforms now pledge annual capital expenditures of over $100 billion each, while the growth rates reported by their suppliers are more akin to those of earlier-stage companies, rather than one of the world's largest enterprises.
The open question facing investors is no longer whether the AI expenditures are genuine, but rather how much longer this trend can continue, and which links in the supply chain will reap the most benefits.
