Well-known crypto analyst DonAlt stated that he is adopting a HODL strategy for Ethereum, believing that the current weekly chart structure provides a clear path for further price increases. He also mentioned that during the 2024 to 2025 period, he accurately predicted that XRP would rise from the range of $0.50 to $0.70 to a high of around $3.50 to $3.66.

Well-known crypto analyst DonAlt stated that he is adopting a HODL strategy towards Ethereum (ETH). In his view, the current weekly chart structure provides a clear path for the asset to continue to rise. "I don't think there's much meaningful resistance left. I plan to ignore everything and just continue to HODL," the analyst said in a recent October commentary.

The reason the market is paying attention to the large position in ETH held by DonAlt is due to his previous performance: during the 2024 to 2025 period, he accurately predicted that XRP would rise from the range of $0.50 to $0.70, reaching a high of around $3.50 to $3.66.

This analyst's current position in Ethereum reflects the lessons he learned from the previous cycle. The rise of XRP may have brought considerable profits to DonAlt, but his maximum macro target of $6.90 was not achieved before the coin entered a deep correction.

DonAlt later attributed that success in part to “giga luck”, and acknowledged that the transaction was completed within a local speculative cycle.

The main lesson he took from that experience and applied to the current market is that one must exercise strict self-discipline when making a profit, rather than always waiting for the theoretically highest goal.

Why has this trader, who once held a bullish view on XRP with a potential increase of 700%, decided to directly hold Ethereum?

This analyst established most of his positions in mid-August 2026, placing large buy orders around $1,878, near the upper edge of the resistance range between $2,000 and $2,200. He explained that before confirming a breakout, his priority was to gain market exposure rather than trying to find the perfect "dynamic bottom."

Current technical analysis of the ETH / USD weekly chart indicates a trend reversal:

  • Polarity reversal: The price has successfully broken through the long-term range of $2,300 to $2,700, and this range has now become a key support level.
  • Limited supply above: There is almost no significant historical selling pressure on higher time frames above the current level.
  • Practical goal: Although his long-term macro outlook points to around $10,000, and the technical target on the chart is close to $4,000, DonAlt plans to sell most of their positions around $3,000 – this decision was influenced by missing out on some profits in XRP.

This large market participant has shifted from active short-term speculation to a HODL strategy, which reflects the current market environment. Once the structure on a higher time frame (weekly chart) completes its accumulation phase and enters an upward trend, attempting to trade intraday fluctuations often leads to increased transaction costs such as fees.

For large market participants, it now seems to be a more mathematically sound choice to follow the established medium-term trend of Ethereum and hold positions.

Ammous claims that Bitcoin reserve companies are unmatched by Strategy
The author of "Bitcoin Standard", Saifedean Ammous, suggests that reserve companies that primarily focus on buying Bitcoin may find it difficult to compete with Michael Saylor's Strategy, due to the latter's larger scale, more substantial cash reserves, and lower financing costs. He also mentioned that companies could use their excess cash to allocate to Bitcoin as a long-term reserve, but he personally still prefers to hold Bitcoin directly.
