The asset management platform HANetf has been listed in London, Frankfurt, and Paris. ETC Its products offer Bitcoin exposure hedged against British pounds and euros.

According to HANetf, these products are among the first in the world to be traded as currency-hedged cryptocurrency exchange commodities (ETC). They offer exposure to Bitcoin while limiting the impact of fluctuations in the US dollar.

Pound sterling hedging products GBTC are traded on the London Stock Exchange, while euro hedging products EBTC are traded on Xetra and the Pan-European Exchange Paris market. HSBC provides currency hedging for these products.

These products are aimed at long-term Bitcoin investors, targeting those who are concerned about the weakening of the US dollar. They provide investors with exposure to cryptocurrencies without the need for them to directly manage custody.

In an email announcement issued on Wednesday, HANetf stated that European investors can now take on Bitcoin positions without having to worry about exchange rate risks eroding their returns.

This London-based asset management platform stated that its listed exchange-traded products ( ETC ) offer exposure to Bitcoin, while also hedging against fluctuations in the value of the pound and euro against the US dollar.

HSBC provides currency hedging for these products.

In a statement on Wednesday, HANetf stated: "These are among the world's first currency-hedging cryptocurrencies ETC, bringing a new currency-hedging structure to the European cryptocurrency ETC market."

Unlike in the United States, in the European Union and the UK, ETF are required to hold a diversified portfolio of assets. Therefore, the existence of ETC is to provide exposure to a single commodity or group of commodities.

The Arrow Bitcoin GBP Hedged ETC of HANetf ( GBTC ) is listed on the London Stock Exchange, while its euro-denominated counterpart, EBTC, is listed on the Xetra in Frankfurt and on the Pan-European Exchange Paris market.

These products are designed to address an inherent characteristic of Bitcoin, which also applies to gold: it is almost universally denominated in US dollars. This means that investors in markets such as Europe will also take on a US dollar exposure when investing in BTC.

HANetf The target customers are investors who wish to hold Bitcoin in the long term but may be concerned about a weakening US dollar.

Currency hedging against gold ETC has become an asset class with a scale of $23 billion, accounting for about 13% of the European gold ETC market. HANetf also offers products for hedging against the euro, pound sterling, and Swiss franc.

Cryptocurrency exchange trading products ( ETP ) – this general term includes ETF , ETC , and exchange-traded notes ( ETN ) – are the main tools that attract investors into digital assets, allowing them to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies without having to worry about managing asset custody on their own.

Investors who are more accustomed to traditional financial (TradFi) assets may request tools similar to those they use in traditional finance, and GBTC and EBTC of HANetf are the latest examples of this.
