Atomic Raises $12.5 Million to Develop a AI Control System for Physical Goods Companies

Atomic, founded by a former Tesla supply chain executive, has automated 90% of the procurement processes for DashMart under DoorDash. It has also helped Good Chop reduce inventory by half while achieving more than doubling in revenue.

Boston, September 29, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- AI The native supply chain planning platform Atomic announced today the completion of a $12.5 million Series A financing round, led by Klass Capital and Madrona. Adrian Schauer from Klass Capital and Matt McIlwain from Madrona will join the board of directors of Atomic.

Atomic indicates that this funds will be used to expand the platform from planning and decision support to a control system, linking the company's business objectives with daily operational decisions, and extending the capabilities of human teams through AI. When demands change or supply becomes tight, the planning team needs to understand the reasons for these changes, compare different response options, and adjust procurement, production, or allocation accordingly. Atomic integrates these tasks into a single operational model. The team can improve the logic behind certain decisions and implement these improvements into the orders issued by the company on a daily basis.

The company was co-founded by Michael Rossiter, Neal Suidan, and Jeff Goodrich. All three individuals were previously responsible for sales and operational planning at Tesla, as well as the planning work during the 3-phase ramp-up phase of Model, and they established a planning engineering team of 50 people. Atomic also went through an incubation period at DVx Ventures. DVx was founded by former Tesla President Jon McNeill. McNeill worked with that team at Tesla and currently serves as a member of the board of directors for Atomic.

Atomic, co-founder and CEO, Rossiter stated: "Most companies are unable to justify building a planning engineering team like the one we have at Tesla. They still rely on legacy software, hundreds of spreadsheets, and individual heroism to operate critical parts of their business. Atomic has turned this capability into a product."

The company stated that customers will be able to deploy the sales and operational planning layer of Atomic using existing data within approximately 30 days. Thereafter, Atomic can be expanded for detailed planning and execution, and it can run in parallel with the enterprise's existing ERP without requiring the enterprise to rebuild its processes around the new software.

In the DashMart business of DoorDash, Atomic has currently automated the processing of 90% of purchases across hundreds of sites. DashMart was migrated to Atomic within about three months, achieving functional equivalence without any business interruptions. Their team also recently used Atomic's AI to establish a new procurement logic for the main and backup suppliers within about one hour. Subsequently, Atomic applied this logic to daily procurement, helping to shift more purchasing volume towards the main supplier and improving gross profit margins.

DoorDash, the director of the new business vertical department, stated: "Atomic helps us to plan and manage inventory more proactively, so even during periods of disruption, we are able to maintain a high level of service for our consumers. Transforming forecasts into correct purchase orders at the right locations requires years of accumulated operational judgment. Knowing what to stock in which areas and how to substitute when suppliers are out of stock. Atomic enables us to apply this judgment throughout our network every day."

In addition, HelloFresh's meat box subscription business, Good Chop, has used Atomic to reduce inventory from 8 to 9 weeks to 4 weeks, while revenue has more than doubled, and the distribution network and product range have also been expanded.

President Seb Tron stated: “Atomic helps us maintain controllable inventory during business expansion. It is the core engine we use for planning supply and placing purchase orders.”

The AI proxy platform of Atomic has also been routinely used by customers for tasks such as S& OP preparation, inventory issues, and supply risk checks. New financing will be used to expand the platform's scale and support larger-scale enterprise deployments.

Adrian Schauer of Klass Capital and Matt McIlwain of Madrona will join the board of directors of Atomic alongside DVx Ventures, who is also the co-founder and former CEO of Tesla, Jon McNeill. DVx incubated Atomic and has been continuously investing in the company since its early stages.

Klass Capital Founder and Managing Partner Daniel Klass stated: "We have never heard customers talk about a software provider in such high terms as they do about Atomic. They entrust their daily operational decisions to it and still want more."

Madrona, the managing director, said: "We invested in Atomic during the seed round because the founder had personally experienced this issue at Tesla. A year and a half later, their platform is already running daily procurement within the DashMart network of DoorDash. Most companies AI only stay at the advisory level. Atomic will execute the plan and demonstrate their reasoning process. We are delighted to co-lead this round of investment and join the board of directors."

McNeill indicates that: "Michael, Neal, and Jeff have helped to establish a system that enables Tesla to operate on a scale and at a speed that is fundamentally impossible with traditional supply chain software. What excites us about Atomic is that they have the opportunity to transform the experience they gained in solving one of the world's most challenging supply chain problems into tools that any company can use. AI now makes all this possible: not only providing companies with better forecasts, but also offering a system that is truly capable of making and executing decisions."

Customers of Atomic include DashMart and GoodChop (under HelloFresh), Starface World, OOFOS, LMNT, and Vincero under DoorDash.
