Tesla's Elon Musk stated that Cybercab will soon be put into commercial operation in Florida, Nevada, and several other states, with commercial operations in California not expected to begin until mid-next year. This announcement has left the "haircutting bet" between MKBHD and Cybercab still unresolved.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has provided the latest timeline for the launch of Cybercab – which also allows the barbers of MKBHD to breathe a little easier.

In an interview with China Global Television Network, a state-owned Chinese broadcaster, Musk stated that he expects to determine when this two-seater vehicle model, which does not have a steering wheel, will begin providing more commercial passenger services. The interview was released on Saturday.

He said, “Cybercab will soon be in commercial operation in Florida, Nevada, and several other states. Moreover, by perhaps the middle of next year, it will also be in commercial operation in California.”

Technically speaking, this does not represent a final conclusion to the famous Cybercab bet. This tech giant, known for MKBHD, stated in 2024 that if Tesla failed to sell this vehicle, which lacks a steering wheel and rearview mirrors, to ordinary buyers for $30,000 by the end of 2026, he would shave his head in front of the cameras.

Over the years, this exaggerated bet has continued to ferment on the internet, especially on X, where users have posted a large number of videos in the past two years generated by AI showing Musk shaving the head of YouTuber.

Even Elon Musk interjected, writing on X that after Cybercab is commercially launched in Texas, MKBHD “really wants to get a haircut.”

The new timeline provided by Musk—especially his acknowledgment that California will not see the release of commercial robot taxis until next year—adds new uncertainties for those who hope to see the MKBHD bald guys. The company also has to respond to inquiries from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding its self-certified vehicles meeting federal safety standards.

In a video at the beginning of September, MKBHD reiterated his confidence in winning the bet and stated that Tesla still has several steps to go before it can bring this aggressively priced model onto American roads.

He said, "My hair is currently safe." He also said, "To be honest, I'm quite satisfied that it will remain safe for the rest of this year."

Business Insider was unable to contact MKBHD and representatives from Tesla for comment.

NVIDIA's record-share repurchase indicates that Jensen Huang believes the stock price is too low
NVIDIA announced on Monday an additional $150 billion authorization for stock repurchases, on top of the $80 billion repurchase plan previously announced in May. The company's stock price, calculated based on the expected price-earnings ratio for the fiscal year 2028, is only 14.5 times, which is lower than that of most large tech peers; Jensen Huang referred to the company as a "growth value stock" and stated that as cash flow increases over the coming years, the company hopes to return more funds to shareholders.
