The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced on August 19 that it is seeking public comments on the listing of "computing power derivative contracts" on trading platforms. The document focuses on issues such as the scale and liquidity of the computing power spot market, market supervision and manipulation risks, customer protection, and perpetual computing power futures. The comment period will last for 60 days after the relevant documents are published in the Federal Register. This is not an approval of a specific contract, nor are it completed regulatory rules; rather, it is a data collection process initiated by the regulatory agency to understand the new market structure.
