Data provided to CoinDesk by on-chain data company Nansen shows that since its issuance in January 2025, buyers of Trump-related crypto tokens, TRUMP, have generally suffered significant unrealized losses. The data also indicates that buyers of World Liberty Financial (WLFI), an entity associated with the Trump family, are also largely operating at a loss in the secondary market.
Nearly two-thirds of wallets are at a loss.
According to Nansen's statistics, of the 1.48 million wallets that purchased Trump, 988,900 are currently operating at a loss, representing approximately two-thirds of the total. These wallets have collectively incurred losses of $3.81 billion.
In contrast, approximately 492,300 wallets are currently in a profitable state, with a total unrealized profit of $4.04 billion. The profits are primarily concentrated in a small number of addresses that purchased the token at a low price during the initial offering. At that time, the token was priced below $1, and subsequently rose to nearly $75 within two days.
After consolidating all wallets, the net amount, after roughly offsetting gains and losses, is approximately $236 million. This means that most of the profits were taken by early participants, while retail users who bought in later at higher prices bore the brunt of the losses.
The token price has fallen 96% from its peak.
Trump is currently trading at around $1.79, down about 96% from its peak. Its market capitalization is now around $425 million, compared to nearly $15 billion at its peak in January 2025.

Nansen stated that approximately 722,000 wallets currently hold the token, with a total value of about $465 million. Since its issuance, approximately $71 billion in value has been traded on the token.
The article also mentions that as the overall crypto market weakened in the first half of 2026, Trump's losses widened further. Bitcoin also fell significantly from its previous highs, and market risk appetite cooled accordingly.
Most WLFI secondary market buyers are trapped.
World Liberty Financial, which has ties to the Trump family, used a different issuance structure. In its initial token sale, WLFI was priced at $0.015 initially, with a public sale price of $0.05. The tokens will not be available for transfer until September 1, 2025.
On the first day of secondary trading, WLFI opened at approximately $0.29, rising to $0.33 at one point during the day. Of the 26,700 secondary market buy wallets tracked by Nansen, 22,700 were at a loss, representing about 85%, with a total loss of approximately $83 million; the profit portion was approximately $23 million.

Currently, WLFI is priced at approximately $0.056, down over 80% from its peak, with a market capitalization of about $1.8 billion. It's important to note that the 241,700 wallets involved in the token issuance are not included in this secondary market profit and loss statistic.
