Elon Musk's SpaceX merger with Tesla will create a Bitcoin giant
2026-10-22 00:18:40
According to CoinMeta, Musk's proposed merger of SpaceX with Tesla would not only bring together rockets and electric vehicles but also consolidate the world's largest corporate Bitcoin reserves under a single balance sheet. During Tesla's third-quarter earnings call on SpaceX, Musk stated that a special committee of independent directors has been established by the boards of both companies to evaluate the merger, but he warned that calling it "certain" would be "exaggerated." Currently, Tesla disclosed in its latest quarterly report that it holds 11,509 Bitcoins, while SpaceX disclosed in a document from before IPO that it holds 18,712 Bitcoins. Together, they hold 30,221 Bitcoins, which is worth about $2.5 billion at current prices. After the merger, Musk will control one of the world's largest non-mining corporate Bitcoin reserves. The merger will not change the nature of Bitcoin itself, and neither company plans to buy or sell Bitcoins.
