According to CoinMeta, the US Monetary Supervision Agency (OCC) has issued the final rules for the implementation of the genius Act, which will take effect on January 18, 2027. These new rules establish a regulatory framework for approved stablecoin issuers, provide a pathway for banks and non-bank institutions to conduct payment stablecoin services, and clarify the relevant standards for overseas stablecoin issuers and asset custody. The final rules require that stablecoin issuance regulation comply with standards such as reserve support, redemption, and risk management. OCC will assess the business arrangements between issuers and third parties on a case-by-case basis and has the authority to take enforcement actions against any behavior that circumvents the requirements of the act.
