Hayes: The collapse of AI will be beneficial to Bitcoin
2026-10-07 13:33:27
According to CoinMeta, the former CEO Arthur Hayes stated at a Gamma Prime investment conference in Singapore that if the current AI investment boom collapses, it could become a major catalyst for Bitcoin. He pointed out that the current over-investment in AI data centers could lead to an oversupply and result in trillions of dollars in misallocation of capital. Hayes believes that the prosperity of AI infrastructure could trigger a major credit crisis, at which point governments and central banks around the world would intervene to inject additional liquidity. He thinks that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will be beneficiaries of this extra funds. Although initial large-scale deleveraging may have a negative impact on risky assets, the subsequent monetary policy responses could have a positive effect on the stock market. Hayes predicts that this process could become apparent between 2027 and 2028.
