According to CoinMeta, the Hong Kong government has reiterated its intention to submit amendments to the crypto asset licensing bill by the end of 2026, in order to establish a licensing system that covers digital asset trading, custody, consulting, and management services. Samuel Wong, the Secretary for Finance and Treasury of Hong Kong, stated that the amendments will respond to the developments in the fintech sector. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has begun processing applications for stablecoin issuer licenses and issued the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses to Anchorpoint Financial and HSBC Hong Kong in April.
