According to CoinMeta, the chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Gary Gensler, stated that the agency will follow the instructions of U.S. President Donald Trump to advance a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies in the absence of new legislative support from Congress. The CFTC has issued a pre-notification of proposed rule-making regarding margin requirements, leverage, and financing transactions for retail customers involving crypto assets, and plans to establish a new category of designated contract markets called "Crypto Asset Markets."
