Cryptocurrency theft surged by 462% in September to reach $766.49 million

CoinMeta data: According to PeckShield, there was a 462% surge in crypto theft incidents in September, with total losses reaching 766.49 million US dollars. The industry experienced 55 major hacker attacks, leading to record-high losses. Among them, the Bitget incident resulted in losses of about 387 million US dollars, and the Liquid Network theft amounted to about 320 million US dollars (of which 285 million US dollars have been returned), making it the largest crypto theft incident of the year. Other notable incidents include a loss of 7.81 million US dollars from MEV bot front-running transactions (which has been returned), a loss of 7 million US dollars from the Duelbits incident, as well as other smaller attacks. The top ten theft incidents also include a loss of 6.6 million US dollars from payment processor V2 (3.4 million US dollars have been returned), a loss of 6.57 million US dollars from Dcent wallet, and a loss of 4.9 million US dollars from Astroport.
