CoinMeta data: According to bitcoin.com and news, in the first half of 2026, the number of listed Bitcoin mining companies decreased by 75% in computing power, corresponding to an investment of about $1.5 billion in mining machines. Some of the electrical resources were redirected to AI infrastructure. Twelve companies experienced a total impairment of assets and write-downs of assets to be sold amounting to about $1.1 billion, with IREN and Core Scientific accounting for nearly 89% of this amount. IREN confirmed related impairments and write-downs of about $695 million.
