Aptos CEO: Rumors about shutting down blockchain are foolish and baseless
2026-10-04 09:50:14
According to CoinMeta, in response to the rumor circulating in the community that “aptos will shut down its blockchain within the next six months,” aptos, co-founder of labs and also CEO Avery Ching, has publicly dismissed it as a “stupid rumor.” The original account X that posted this message did not provide any official announcements, governance proposals, or other documents to support it. When questioned about evidence later on, they claimed that the information was merely “hearsay” and should be taken with caution. Another community account claimed that aptos had carried out significant layoffs in the past year and was facing financial pressure, but the person themselves also acknowledged that the source of the information was “unreliable.” Currently, there is no public information to confirm these claims. aptos’s current public governance records still show network upgrade proposals and implemented mainnet feature updates, and no official plans to shut down the mainnet have been discovered yet.
