According to CoinMeta, proxy infrastructure is becoming a commodity, and competitive barriers are shifting upstream. On October 1st, Digital Ocean launched a proxy that bundles micro-virtual machines, memory, session storage, managed model inference, and controlled access to over 16,000 tools, available in three subscription tiers. Meanwhile, Microsoft introduced Azure Virtual Desktops 365, which consolidates proxy discovery, identity management, governance, and security into a single control plane designed specifically for government cloud environments. Proxy stacks are no longer products that users assemble themselves; they have become commodities that can be purchased directly. This change reflects a trend towards commoditization that emerged at the end of September, when three providers launched similar architectures within 48 hours of each other. Digital Ocean's proxy offers a free trial of $5, a monthly professional plan for $50, and a team plan for $200, which includes unlimited proxies and enterprise features.
