CoinMeta data: According to Reuters, U.S. prosecutors have frozen nearly $84 million in assets from Montana-based payment company accounts related to Tether, including over $80 million in funds from JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo. This civil forfeiture action is targeting Capstone, a currency services company accused of opening accounts under the guise of information technology firms and transferring funds for crypto companies. Court documents show that Capstone handled payments for two crypto companies at a bank in Dominica. Prosecutors claim that the company also converted fraud proceeds into cryptocurrencies by impersonating agents of FBI. Lawyers for Capstone stated that the company denies any wrongdoing and plans to challenge the allegations.
