Kashkali: It is expected that the Fed will raise interest rates again, but it is uncertain; the action in October remains to be verified.

According to CoinMeta, Minneapolis Federal Reserve Chairman Charles Kashkari stated that in order to curb the economy and inflation, the Federal Reserve is still likely to need to raise interest rates further, but he does not have a strong opinion on whether action should be taken at the October meeting. His previous predictions were for another 25 basis point rate hike this year and one more hike in 2027. However, since the September meeting, the U.S. economy has performed better than he expected, and inflation remains high. If the economy continues to be exceptionally strong and inflation proves more stubborn than anticipated, interest rates may need to rise to levels higher than currently expected. Kashkari believes that the current healthy labor market and good economic performance indicate that monetary policy "may not be particularly restrictive." He also noted that recent market fluctuations have not yet shown signs of systemic risk, and the U.S. Treasury bond market is able to absorb the re-pricing of interest rates normally.
