Global bond selling intensifies, with UK 30-year yield breaking through 6%

CoinMeta data: The global bond market experienced a new round of selling on Thursday, pushing long-term borrowing costs to levels not seen in decades. The yield on UK 30-year government bonds broke through 6% for the first time, while the yield on US 10-year government bonds also reached 5.34%, the highest level since 2002. Analysts point out that concerns about inflation, rising energy prices, and increased government borrowing demand have prompted investors to demand higher returns on long-term debt. The interest cost in the UK is now close to GDP%, which is approximately twice the average level of the decade before the pandemic. The yield on French 10-year government bonds is also close to 5%, and Japan has recorded rising sovereign yields for five consecutive quarters.
