According to CoinMeta, the Dutch Senate withdrew a bill on September 29 that would have imposed a 36% tax on unsold bitcoins and cryptocurrencies. The bill had previously been passed by the House of Representatives in February 2026. The purpose of the withdrawal was to prevent investors from leaving the country, but profits from holding bitcoins still require the payment of a 36% tax.
