The September summary of the Bank of Japan's opinions does not indicate a signal of consecutive interest rate hikes

According to CoinMeta, institutional analysis indicates that the summary of opinions from the Bank of Japan's September meeting did not show a sufficiently hawkish stance, and thus did not support the possibility of consecutive interest rate hikes expected by some investors. An economist from Sumitomo Mitsui SMBC Securities, Yoshimasa Maruyama, stated that regarding the financial environment, which is a key factor in deciding on interest rate hikes, there were opinions emphasizing corporate behavior and asset prices. This suggests that the Bank of Japan does not necessarily have to rely too heavily on benchmark interest rates when deciding whether to raise interest rates further. Currently, the overnight index swap (OIS) market estimates a 20% probability of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan in October and an 82% probability in December.
