Indian refiners adjust strategy, charter their own ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz for crude oil purchases

According to CoinMeta, Indian refiners are renting oil tankers to cross the Strait of Hormuz and load crude oil from the Persian Gulf. This move marks a shift in strategy for Indian refiners. Since the beginning of the US-Iran war, Indian refiners have been avoiding arranging for their own rented tankers to cross the Strait of Hormuz due to the risk of attacks, relying instead on oil-producing countries in the Gulf region and international traders to bear that risk. Recently, Indian Oil Corporation, Reliance Industries, and HPCL - Mittal Energy have purchased Iraqi crude oil through bidding, with Indian Oil Corporation buying 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude oil to be delivered in October. Such transactions require the buyers to be responsible for arranging the shipping of the goods to their destinations.
