Trump Reconsiders Diesel Export Ban, White House Seeking to Lower Fuel Costs
2026-10-01 07:47:56
According to CoinMeta, Trump stated that considering the potential for unexpected price increases due to the diesel export ban, his support for banning U.S. diesel exports has cooled down. Meanwhile, a senior government official hinted that Europe may soon release new diesel supplies into the market. Trump noted that he is still discussing restrictions on diesel exports with Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, but also acknowledged that a complete export ban could have unintended consequences. He said, "They think it will help the diesel market, but it might drive up the prices of other commodities." Sources revealed that White House officials are also considering a range of measures far less stringent than a complete export ban to reduce diesel costs, including encouraging some European countries that rely heavily on U.S. diesel to release some of their inventories.
