French inflation rises to its highest level in over two years, increasing pressure for the European Central Bank to raise interest rates

According to CoinMeta, data released on Wednesday by the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Research (INSEE) shows that France's inflation rate rose to 3.4% in September, higher than 2.6% in August and also exceeding economists' forecast of 3.2%. The current inflationary pressure mainly comes from energy costs, with energy prices rising by 21.2% year-on-year in September. Although the impact of the conflicts in the Middle East has not yet led to a significant second round of inflation, inflation in France's service sector has accelerated, rising to 2.2% in September from 1.9% previously. Food inflation also increased from 1.1% to 1.5%.
