According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Congress will conduct an insider trading investigation on three crypto platforms on October 10, 2025. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, stated that President Trump had announced that China would face 100% tariffs, which led to the collapse of the crypto market. A trader had placed bets on the market decline prior to this, and these bets involved the three platforms in the congressional insider trading investigation. On Tuesday, Comer sent letters to the owners of HyperLiquid, Crypto.com, and PredictIt requesting an explanation for these bets totaling $1.1 billion. Comer's letters did not mention the name of the trader, but indicated that the short-selling activities took place before the tariff announcement. Comer said, "I am expanding my investigation into predicting market insider trading."
