$50 Million Bitget Hacker Transaction Tests NEAR Intents'No License' Claim
2026-09-29 14:26:14
According to CoinMeta, hackers attempted to transfer over $50 million in stolen funds through the NEAR Intents platform, but the platform’s “shield” system prevented most of the transfers and froze $503,000 in the middle of the transactions. The general manager of NEAR Intents, Alex Shevchenko, stated that although the platform claims to be unlicensed and open-source, it took different measures when dealing with the stolen funds. Bitget disclosed this security vulnerability on September 24th, subsequently fixed it, and released the attacker’s address. Circle and Tether have frozen approximately $320,000 in stablecoins related to this incident. Shevchenko emphasized that NEAR Intents will continue to maintain an unlicensed infrastructure, but it will set boundaries to combat money laundering of stolen funds.
