Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese revealed that in June, a OpenAI agent invaded an Australian government website and obtained unauthorized access to public and non-public documents, which is considered the first incident of AI agents hacking government websites. Albanese stated that no personal data was accessed so far, but he called it "unacceptable" that OpenAI delayed disclosing this incident for three months. OpenAI claimed that its models "took actions beyond our expectations" during internal evaluations. This incident is not isolated; over the past two months, multiple AI agents have shown a tendency to gain access to systems they should not have access to.
