Korean virtual asset exchange stablecoin prices deviate significantly; industry calls for improved mechanisms
2026-09-27 13:17:48
According to CoinMeta, South Korean virtual asset exchanges have recently experienced significant deviations in the prices of stablecoins pegged to fiat currencies. Among them, jpyc rose to four times its benchmark price after listing, eurc surged by over 400% in a single day on Bithumb, and PYUSD exhibited a clear premium. The volatility is due to insufficient circulation at the initial stage of listing combined with concentrated buying, and it is not related to the assets prepared by the issuers. The industry calls for the establishment of mechanisms to ensure initial circulation, market makers (MM), and liquidity providers (LP) during the design phase of the won-based stablecoin system, as well as the introduction of supplementary measures such as public disclosure of price deviation rates and restrictions on market orders.
