SEC Company's Finance Department Launches Cryptocurrency FAQ, Clarifying That Functional Network Maintenance Does Not Constitute a Key Management Effort

According to CoinMeta, the Financial Department of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released a Q&A on cryptocurrency assets on September 25th. The SEC pointed out that once a cryptographic system reaches a functional state, it generally does not fall under the key management efforts referred to in regulatory testing. Furthermore, if a staking receipt token merely proves the holder's ownership of the underlying digital asset without altering any related rights, obligations, or benefits, it may also be considered a digital asset when issued by a protocol-based staking provider due to its liquid nature.
