U.S. federal authorities accuse a person of Vietnamese nationality, identified as Trung Nguyen Van, of laundering $53 million in funds obtained from an encrypted "pig slaughtering" scam targeting Americans. Since 2018, Van's wallet has received approximately $53 million in funds from this fraudulent activity. One victim lost around $16 million after being led to a fake cryptocurrency platform named "Triangle." Upon receiving these funds, Van immediately transferred the victims' money to a private wallet. In this scam, fraudsters established online friendships or romantic relationships to lure victims into making false cryptocurrency investments.
