According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, authorities in New York State, USA, officially filed a lawsuit against the crypto forecasting market platform Polymarket on Thursday local time, accusing it of conducting "illegal gambling operations" within the state of New York. Previously, the Attorney General of New York State Letitia James and relevant departments had taken a series of legal actions against several institutions involved in the forecasting market business, including Kalshi, Coinbase, and Gemini, accusing such platforms of offering event betting without obtaining permission from the state's Gaming Commission.
