According to CoinMeta, the U.S. government is considering promoting the use of dollar-denominated stablecoins overseas in order to consolidate the dollar's status as the global reserve currency and increase demand for U.S. Treasury bonds. Sources familiar with the matter say that the U.S. government may support stablecoin-related businesses by establishing joint ventures with private enterprises, and institutions such as the U.S. Treasury Department, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation could be involved.
